Chris Heegard, Ph.D, CEO, co-founder

Chris Heegard has served as CEO and Principal Scientist since Alantro’s inception.  Dr. Heegard is a well-known expert in the field of Communications theory and is widely published on the subject.  He is currently on extended leave from the School of Electrical Engineering at Cornell where he taught courses in digital communications and error control codes.  He also conducted National Science Foundation sponsored research in information, coding, and communications theory.  Formerly, he was the founder and chief scientist for Native Intelligence, a digital communications software company, and worked in Research and Development at Linkabit Corportion.    Dr. Heegard has consulted with numerous companies and proposed FEC and modulation solutions for HDSL-2 (T1E1), high-speed wireless LANs, Digital HDTV, and cable TV transmission.  He was on the Board of Governors of the Information Theory Society of the IEEE and has served as President.  He is currently a fellow of the IEEE.  Dr. Heegard received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts and a Ph.D. from Stanford University.

Eric J. Rossin, Ph.D, President, co-founder

Eric Rossin has served as President, Chief Financial Officer, and Director of Engineering since Alantro’s inception.  Dr. Rossin was formerly a Principal Engineer with Next Level Communications, Inc., where he designed and managed a number of projects such as a high-speed cable modem for their fiber-to-the-curb system. Prior to that, he worked for Applied Signal Technology and was involved in modem receiver designs and digital signal processing.  Dr. Rossin has worked on numerous consulting projects in the area of modem design for telephony and speech processing.  Dr. Rossin received  his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.

Scott C. Petler, Director of ASIC Design, co-founder

Mr. Petler has served as Director of ASIC design since Alantro’s inception.  He was formerly a Principal Engineer with Next Level Communications, responsible for the broadband interface and high-speed modem ASIC designs.  Prior to that he worked for Hewlett Packard designing LAN hardware for peripherals, and fiber optic receivers for their Computer Products Organization and their Fiber Optic Components group.  He is an expert in data communications protocols and physical layer signaling with many years experience designing complex digital integrated circuits using Verilog and Synopsys. He has also designed a number of hardware design tools to optimize and streamline the ASIC design process.  Mr. Petler received a B.S. in Electronic Engineering from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo.

Liz P. Bortolotto, Director of Marketing

Liz Bortolotto joined Alantro Communications in 1998 and is currently serving as Director of Marketing.  Ms. Bortolotto was formerly with Hewlett Packard from 1983 to 1998 where she held a number of management and engineering positions in Marketing and Research and Development departments for networking and RF/microwave products divisions.  Ms. Bortolotto has extensive background in all phases of product development and introduction.  She has successfully introduced a number of networking and wireless products worldwide including routers, switches, signal analyzers, and network management software.  Ms. Bortolotto has a B.S. and a M.S. degree in Computer Science.
