Long Trellis
Diagram
- Definition:
The number of trellis sections
displayed varies depending on the Decode Style and the Block/Trace Length, both parameters that you can edit in the Setup Panel. The long trellis diagram is meant to show the
progressive status of the algorithm, as well as to show the final path through the trellis
that the Viterbi algorithm chooses. The states are drawn from top to bottom starting at
state zero.
- Usage:
You can shift around in the trellis by clicking in this diagram on
the trellis section that you want to view in detail. You can also shift a block at a time
to the left or right by clicking to the left or right of the trellis.
- Examples:
You can see in the
picture of the long trellis diagram above the progression of a trace back operation. The
trace path is denoted by the green lines. The blue lines are the other surviving branches
and parts of the trace path that have yet to be traced back through.
