Communications Announces Financing from Cisco Systems, VantagePoint

WIRE)--Sept. 24, 1999--SANTA ROSA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 1999--Alantro Communications, a company specializing in high-speed, high-performing physical-layer communications technology, today announced that it has received a $6.0 million investment from VantagePoint Venture Partners and Cisco Systems, led by VantagePoint Venture Partners. Matt Ocko, a VantagePoint partner, will be joining Alantro's Board of Directors.

Alantro's technology was adopted as the high-performance option for the newly ratified IEEE 802.11 High-Rate 11Mbps wireless LAN standard. This new high-speed wireless LAN standard enables robust network connections at speeds necessary for general-purpose business and home applications.
Alantro Communications also recently joined WECA (Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance) to promote IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN interoperability.
